My Life in Sarasas Thonburi School (for the School’s annual publication)

Sarasas ThonburiSchool is one of the Sarasas Affiliated Schools in Thailand. It has Mini- Bilingual program and offers quality education from Kindergarten 1 – Grade 9. The school exhibits competent and dedicated teachers (Thai and Foreign), pleasant classrooms, suitable and adequate learning facilities, friendly and supportive teaching staffs, clean and beautiful environment and offers great learning experiences to both students and teachers.

I’ve been a part of this school for 4 years. Reminiscing my first day here was like I was going to an audition. My heart was filled with excitement and anxiety. I was very excited to teach, sing and dance with Thai kids and at the same time anxious with my colleagues and superiors. However, I found everyone very friendly and I felt their warm welcome which made me feel at ease. My first footstep in the Kindergarten class is still vivid to me. Students were wailing here and there. The classroom was occupied with Thai teachers who were selflessly and patiently assisting, comforting, and playing with the students. Witnessing that situation was challenging to me because it was like a test on my teaching ability. So I started singing and dancing with the kids, playing with them and making them feel comfortable and at home. Some kids enjoyed singing and dancing, while others did not because they were not used to English songs. On the other hand, Thai teachers never failed to give me a hand, especially in terms of communicating with the students. They are always there to translate and explain the lessons, assist in doing students’ written exercises, and a great help in maintaining good classroom management. In short, a good student- teacher- relationship is very evident and the classroom environment is conducive to learning.

Teaching Math in Kindergarten 2 is fun. I am not only teaching the kids, but I am playing and enjoying with them as well. Conversation, demonstration and presentation of visual aids are the methods I am applying for children’s learning. Furthermore, giving of rewards and punishments to students is also effective to their growth. For example, saying praises like, “Excellent!” and “Very good!”, giving stickers and applauding every time they perform well in front of the class is an effective motivation tool. I have observed that students grow not just only emotionally, socially and mentally, but above all, academically every after semester. They are not just learning how to sing and dance English songs, count numbers, spell, recognize shapes and add numbers 1-10, but they become more confident, competitive, and smarter at the same time. Seeing them growing like that is my greatest achievement in my teaching life. Therefore, molding the students holistically is the parents and teachers’ goal and Sarasas is the best medium in realizing that goal.

Sarasas Thonburi School provides the kind of education that each student needs. Its mission is to give quality education in an affordable cost, yet crucial to students’ knowledge. Foreign teachers are committed to enhance their students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English through different learning activities that our school widely offers. Such activities are Reading time, School Radio, Science Fair, Spelling Contest, Talent showdown, English and Math Fun day, and a lot more, which have become training grounds for the students to become great English speakers. Undoubtedly, Sarasas Thonburi is a perfect choice for shaping and building children’s future.

i am having sleepless nights for weeks and emptiness fills my heart . i didn’t expect this would happen to me, not this worse. i’ve had enough pain, tears, shame, rejection, and physical/emotional stress. i don’t deserve them that much. do i?

apparently, i am in the “getting used to” state. i know this is very hard for me, but this is the only way of helping myself either. that would definitely takes time.

for my own sake, i just have to believe that everything happens for a reason and that every storm has an end.

this is one of my deepest fears, and according to GOD’s message today, HE wants me to face it and let it go.

i’ll try… i have to.

If you’re not the one (Daniel Bedingfield)

If you’re not the one then why does my soul feel glad today?

If you’re not the one then why does hand fit yours this way?

If you are not mine then why does your heart return my call?

If you are not mine would I have the strength to stand at all?

*I never knew what the future brings, but I know you are here with me now

We’ll make it through and I hope you are the one I share my life with.

Chorus:

I don’t want to run away, but I can’t take it. I don’t understand.

If I’m not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am?

Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?

If I don’t need you then why am I crying on my bed?

If I don’t need you then why does your name resound in my head?

If you’re not for me then why does this distance maim in my life?

If you’re not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife?

*I don’t know why you’re so far away

But I know that this much is true

We’ll make it through

And I hope you are the one I share my life with.

And I wish that you could be the one I die with.

And I pray that you’re the one I build my home with.

I hope I love you all my life.

Chorus

‘Cause I miss you body and soul that it takes my breath away

And I breathe you into my heart and pray for the strength to stand today.

‘Cause I love you, whether it’s wrong or right,

And though I can’t be with you tonight, you know my heart is by your side.

Chorus
